Job Title: Bilingual Counselor
Salary: 15,000 – 18,000 RMB/ month (negotiable)
Location: Chengdu
Start Date: August 2019
Introduction:
A new school in Chengdu is looking for a trained and experienced mental health and education specialists to work as an Elementary School Counselor. The main function of a counselor at our school is to promote and support the development of the whole student through the delivery of quality and age appropriate services for students.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with faculty to implement Character Education in various forms (observation, consultation, intervention, possible SEL/SEED courses offered, etc)
Plan and conduct information workshops for parent and staff groups in response to identified needs
Provide classroom and small group instruction on issues within the curriculum that are relevant to counselor skills and knowledge
Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to identify and support students with additional needs
Academic counseling as appropriate
Maintain confidential student records
Effectively communicate with staff, students and parents
Requirements:
Registration as either a psychologist or social worker in country of origin and/or educational qualifications with work experience and additional training in behaviour management or counseling areas
School counselor degree or certificate
Near-native proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese
A minimum of two years experience as an Elementary School counselor
Experience in design and delivery of group programmes to different audiences, preferably in school classroom settings
Experience in interacting with ESL/EAL students in China or abroad is a plus
