General Manager – China

Pegler Yorkshire, part of Aalberts Industries NV, is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers and distributors of valves and fittings for the plumbing and heating industries. Pegler Yorkshire is an integral part of this diverse, multinational, customer focused business with operations in U.S.A, Europe and the Far East. Pegler Yorkshire is searching for a General Manager for its operation in China.
The operation in China consists of a manufacturing facility in Jiangmen with over 300 staff producing a number of products within the company’s taps and valves range.
This position is based in Jiangmen with a direct report to the Operations Director at the UK Headquarters.
As the most senior position in China the GM is responsible for the overall management of the site which will include manufacturing, process improvement, cost reduction, supplier management, operator management and quality engineering. Further responsibilities include:
• Successful delivery of key projects throughout the site
• Elimination of non-value added activities and cost reduction
• Management of production performance to meet and improve upon targets
• Identifying, planning, implementing and sustaining best practice in the production site
• Developing a high performing production team with a culture of delivery and continuous improvement through effective management activities
Requirements
Suitable candidates will have a strong engineering background with appropriate management exposure in manufacturing.
• Bachelor of Engineering degree, modules or further qualifications in metallurgy would be an advantage.
• A minimum of 10 years manufacturing experience including at least 5 years in management role
• Experience in applying manufacturing improvement techniques e.g. lean
• Knowledge of resource planning
• Strong background in HSE
Pegler Yorkshire is a world leading manufacturer of advanced plumbing, heating and engineering products. It employs 1400 people across a commercial head office and 4 manufacturing sites and supplies its products to customers in over 110 countries.
This position is located in one of China’s major manufacturing hubs within China’s richest province – Guangdong. The province has good international connections and borders both Hong Kong and Macau. Pegler Yorkshire offers an expatriate package that includes accommodation, car, flights home and bonus alongside the basic salary.
