University Introduction :

The Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) is located in Beijing and is the leading academy for contemporary art education in China. The International Foundation Course (IFC) program for overseas studies which is founded by CAFA in 2005 aims to prepare students for undergraduate studies in Fine Art and Design areas abroad. Almost 800 of outstanding art students have been successfully enrolled by partner schools worldwide in eleven years.

CAFA IFC is now seeking to recruit Art and Design full-time and part-time teaching faculty for the 2016-17 academic year. The ideal candidate will be qualified to teach a broad range of foundation level courses including the basics of 2D, 3D, and 4D areas. CAFA IFC is especially interested in interdisciplinary practitioners who have a specialty in one more of the following areas: fashion design, textiles, graphic design, architecture, or industrial/product design.

The program adopts the most developed international teaching theories and methods, aspiring to establish, manage and deliver an integrative education which is both suitable to the characteristics and needs of students, to meet the requirements of overseas study.
Through providing a high-quality education, we prepare students with the necessary academic and language capabilities required by our overseas partner colleges in art and design.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• To instruct foundation level students across a wide range of disciplines; • To design and implement area specific workshops (in practitioner’s area of expertise); • To guide students in general art and design research projects; • To undertake relevant responsibilities including lesson planning, support material, tutorial, studio-based discussion; • To provide academic support to assure maximum student potential is reached; • To complete written assessment of students.

Background Experience/Qualifications

The successful candidate should:

• Hold a masters degree (or equivalent) in Design or Fine Arts related areas.
• Be able to deliver courses in English.
• Demonstrate 2-3 years of teaching experience related to Fine Arts or Design in an international educational institution.
• Experience with Chinese students or students whose native language isn’t English is preferred.
• Have knowledge of Fine Arts or Design history and supporting theoretical context.
• Be familiar with the academic requirements of international art and design institutions.
• Have excellent software skills including Adobe Creative Suite.
