Data Software Engineer

Factual is looking for a fast-working multi-tasker with good attention to detail that has both experience with and passion for large data.
Desired Skills (at least three of the following):
- Proficient in a compiled language such as Java or C#
- Proficient in a scripting language such as Javascript, Python, Ruby, or Perl
- Proficient in a functional language such as Clojure or lisp
- Experience with distributed systems for scale, fault-tolerance, and ease of use
- Experience with a data storage system-- traditional relational databases (postgresql, mysql, Oracle) or NoSQL (mongodb, solr/lucene)
- Linux/bash scripting
- Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) frameworks
Responsibilities:
- Work on a diverse, multi-function team building the world's best location data
- Build and extend our big data pipeline
- Generate, maintain, and operate extraction software
- Algorithmically evaluate and score data quality
- Curate data schemas
- Research and analyze data on the web
- Build software for usability in APIs, command line, and web interfaces
The Ideal Candidate Would:
- Have a degree in engineering or computer science
- Have strong competencies around data structures
- Be excited by writing and working on clean, fluent code
- Be eager to learn new tools and skills related to data and scripting.
- Be able to propose out-of-the-box strategies
