Forbes Travel Guide – Contract Position Description
Position Title: Incognito Field Evaluator, Forbes Travel Guide
Manager: Manager, Evaluation Operations

Forbes Travel Guide seeks an incognito hospitality field evaluator to work on its annual star ratings
and Hospitality Solutions client evaluations. Since 1958, Forbes Travel Guide's professional team of
inspectors has evaluated and rated hotels (and later restaurants and spas) across the globe, providing travelers with the best information on where to stay, dine, spa and sightsee.
ACCOUNTABILITY: The field evaluator will be responsible for gathering all information required to
conduct and complete an anonymous evaluation of an assigned hotel, restaurant and/or spa as well
as gathering information for ForbesTravelGuide.com and social media platforms. The field evaluator
must maintain a professional and appropriate demeanor on behalf of FTG.
Skills Required:
Hospitality experience (luxury hospitality experience preferred)
Ability to multitask and handle significant daily deadlines
Extremely organized, mature, self‐motivated and independent worker
Detail orientated with a strong ability to keep meticulous records and prepare accurate
reports both manually and through electronic channels
Low profile; preferred candidates do not have blogs or other prominent social media
personalities. Chosen candidates will be required to maintain a low profile and possibly
reduce their online profiles
Strong communication skills, ability to effectively communicate with co‐workers and home
office to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Position requires extensive domestic and international travel
Proficiency in additional languages a plus, particularly Mandarin, Cantonese and/or French
Strong writing skills required; experience or familiarity with luxury travel and writing about
travel, spa, food, wine, style or design preferred
Knowledge of AP Style
Technologically proficient
Principle Duties:
Evaluate properties by objectively answering pre‐determined standards and submitting
report to home office
In conjunction with each unannounced inspection report, submit photographs and
information (trends seen around the industry) to be used by ForbesTravelGuide.com and
social media outlets
Respond to home office questions in a timely manner
Availability and/or flexibility to travel as requested by FTG on a monthly basis
Attend meetings, typically teleconferenced, as required
Manage personal travel logistics in a budget‐conscious manner, following departmental
policies and procedures
