technical support engineer

Terreal, French company specialized in Terracotta building materials (400M Euros turnover, 25 factories in the world), is looking for an intern to occupy the position of technical support engineer, located in Shanghai. Duration of the internship is 6 months and start in September 2014.
Missions
Mission of the internship consists in providing technical support on facade products in Asia and ensuring the link between the Chinese suppliers and Terreal factories located in France.
The intern will be integrated in a team composed of the French business development manager and the Chinese technical manager.
After receiving a technical training on façade product, the intern will help in providing technical support to Asian distributors and Terreal sales teams in Asia :
- Studying the technical feasibility of a project
- calculation of Bill Of Quantity
- recommendations on the best technical solutions
- Training of distributors on facade products
Other part of the mission is to make the link between the Chinese suppliers and the Terreal factories in France in order to ensure the viability of the purchasing process.
- Draft and updating of product technical specification
- Make Quality Control before product departure
- Validate prototype of new products
- Participate in negotiation with suppliers
- Ensure that delays and product’s quality are respected during production
- Implement tools to facilitate and smoothen the purchasing process
Environment
Office is located in Shanghai downtown, in Terreal Shanghai representative office. There will displacements in China as part of the purchasing activity.
Profil
Graduated from an engineering school with at least a significant experience in the industry (6 months internship, 1 year work experience…). Intern must be organized, rigorous with the ability to take initiatives and to adapt himself in a multicultural environment.
The intern must be proactive with a strong ability to animate local teams, distributors and Terreal internal departments (technical and purchasing department).
Familiar with Autocad
Bilingual in English is a must
French is a real asset
Depending on results, a long term contract might be proposed to the intern at the end of the internship.
