We have an exciting opportunity to teach English as a second language in Chengdu University in Chengdu, China.
Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, located in Southwest China, is a famous historical and cultural city with a history over 3,000 years. In contrast to other Chinese urban centers, Chengdu has managed to preserve many of its traditional features and appeal. Chengdu is also the main inland access city to Tibet.
You will need to be qualified and have experience teaching English as an Additional Language at a variety of levels, including EAP and ESP. You may also be required to develop materials development and be able to carry out assessments and moderation as required.
Your key function will be teaching EAL and this will involve creating a positive and supportive learning environment. You will use current, effective teaching strategies that promote learning, with a particular awareness of e-learning, consistent with student needs and the changing market.
You will need appropriate post-graduate qualifications, preferably a Masters in Applied Linguistics or TESOL, be a registered IELTS tester and have relevant extensive experience in teaching EAL. You will also possess strong interpersonal skills, enjoy working and contributing in a team environment, and have an active interest in learning new skills. You will display a high level of cultural competence.
The position will be fixed term from September 2013 until May 2014.
